Weekend sport: AFC up to 11th after fourth straight win

AFC Sudbury chalked up another victory on Saturday, beating Waltham Forest 1-0 at The MEL Group Stadium courtesy of a Nathan Clarke header.

The Yellows recorded their fourth consecutive victory and kept their fourth straight clean sheet with the defender’s 10th minute header proving the difference.

AFC, who are now sitting in 11th place in the Ryman League Division One North table, host Potters Bar Town (seventh) at home on Tuesday (7.45pm).

In the Ridgeons League, Hadleigh United (13th) avenged their 6-1 defeat in the Ridgeons League Cup against Haverhill Rovers last Tuesday with a 3-1 home win over Rovers on Saturday with Lee McGlone scoring a brace.

In the First Division, Halstead Town have dropped to seventh in the league following a 2-0 defeat at Downham Town.

On Monday night, Team Bury host Long Melford in the league, while Hadleigh United travel to title contenders Brantham Athletic (both 7.45pm).

Sudbury Rugby Club were not in action at the weekend, but on Saturday, December 3 they travel to South Woodham Ferrers looking to halt a terrible run of six consecutive defeats.
