Weekend round-up: AFC Sudbury end season on sour note while cricket is another washout

AFC Sudbury’s season petered out with a third consecutive loss — 4-1 at home to Heybridge Swifts.

Luke Callander scored a treble for the Swifts on a difficult afternoon for AFC, who only had Chris Bryan’s goal to provide some cheer on a day when Chelsea cult hero Ron ‘the Chopper’ Harris was in attendance as guest of honour.

Meanwhile, Hadleigh United ended their Ridgeons Premier campaign in fine style, with a 3-0 defeat of Gorleston.

In the npower Championship, Ipswich Town won their final match of the season, 3-2 at Doncaster Rovers thanks to goals from Tommy Smith, Ryan Stevenson and Jason Scotland.

The Tractor Boys finished the campaign in 15th, level on points with Leeds United.

Luis Suarez’s hat-trick for Liverpool – including a 45-yard wonder goal – sent Norwich City to their third consecutive defeat in the Premier League.
