Danny White has spoken of his delight after Thetford Town secured the services of Ross Bailey, writes Liam Apicella.
The midfielder spent last season on the books of AFC Sudbury, who cantered to the Ryman League Division One North title.
However, having been released by the Yellows earlier this summer, Bailey has now been convinced to join his elder brother Luke at Munford Road.
“Ross is a massive signing for us,” said Thetford boss White.
“He has played at a higher standard and will bring with him plenty of experience.
“We wanted to stamp our authority on the team this summer and signing players like Ross is a great start.”
Along with Bailey, 21, White has also moved for striker Jordan Attree from Wroxham.
The 21-year-old featured for the Yachtsmen’s first team during 2015-16 and also found the net on a regular basis for the reserves.
White, who has put pen to paper on playing forms himself, also revealed that he is eager to recruit a goalkeeper before the new term gets underway.
n Despite those additions, White’s side crashed to a 4-1 defeat in their first pre-season encounter on Monday night against First Division outfit Diss Town.
The club’s friendly schedule continues this coming Monday at home to Spixworth, before games with Munford (A, July 13), A Poppy-Mai charity game (H, July 15), Dereham (H, July 18), Downham (H, July 22) and Wisbech (A, July 26).
n Having been granted a relegation reprieve, Thetford will begin their upcoming Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division campaign on July 30 away at FC Clacton.
