A youthful Long Melford came from two goals down to eventually breeze past struggling Stowmarket Town.

Jamie Sharp and Reece Golding fired Stow into the lead, but skipper Michael Owen got Melford back in the game when he converted Ashley Skeggs’ cross.

On the stroke of half-time, the visitors levelled through Jack Durey’s close-range drive, after good passing between Skeggs and Martin Westcott.

Durey doubled his tally to give the Villagers the lead the other side of the interval before going on to complete his hat-trick when rounding the Stowmarket goalkeeper.

Melford made sure of their victory on 72 minutes when a Chaise Guyon corner was headed into the net by Skeggs.

n Last Wednesday, Courtney Price scored in Melford’s 4-1 Red Insure Cup defeat at the hands of Braintree Town Reserves.
