HADLEIGH United fired blanks for the second time in three days, when a goal by Felixstowe’s Danny Smy decided Tuesday’s local derby at the Millfield.

Smy’s vital strike came on the stroke of half-time, with a downward header, following a deep cross from the left wing.

At the other end, Neil Calver tested keeper Liam Jones, before Mark Gaisford, with a header, and Scott Chaplin went near before the interval.

In the second half, both defences took the honours with neither keeper seriously troubled.

Ollie Canfer headed too high for Hadleigh on the hour-mark.

Manager Stuart Crawford will be hoping for a sharper cutting edge in this Saturday’s FA Cup match at Ipswich Wanderers.
