Hadleigh United pulled out all the stops to gain three points after losing their defender Kris Rose with a knee injury after just 16 minutes.

The Brettsiders failed from the penalty spot when Neil Calver’s spot-kick was saved by keeper Elliot Pride after James Blades had been fouled by the Gorleston keeper in the closing stages of the first half.

The scoresheet was blank at the interval, but Marcus Josiah fired Hadleigh ahead after 67 minutes with a shot from the right wing.

Mark Goldfinch conceded a penalty 10 minutes later with a trip, but Hadleigh keeper Darren Moyes saved the spot-kick from Liam Harvey-Cooper.

Hadleigh made sure of victory three minutes before the end when Lee McGlone centred from the left touchline and Ollie Canfer converted at the far post.

<n> Last Wednesday Hadleigh won 3-2 at Walsham in the Red Insure Cup first round. Matt Downing gave Hadleigh an interval lead and James Blades scored twice midway through the second half.

Walsham scored through Ollie Hughes and Jack Brame late on to make a nail-biting finale for Hadleigh supporters.
