Between 4,000 and 5,000 players and spectators are expected to attend the KBB Suffolk Football Association Grassroots Festival this weekend.

The World Cup-themed festival is taking place at Gainsborough Sports Centre in Ipswich on Saturday and Sunday.

A total of 144 teams from across the county have signed up to participate in the festival, which is for boys’ and girls’ teams from under-7s to under-16s.

The festival will also feature the two Days Sports-sponsored finals; the Suffolk FA Under-12s Girls’ Cup final on the Saturday and the Suffolk FA Under-11s Boys’ Cup final on the Sunday (both 1.30pm).

The FA Women’s Super League Roadshow is also returning on Saturday, in association with Continental Tyres, and will feature 13 different activities for girls aged between five-years-old and 16 who have signed up to play in the festival.

Participants will have the chance to play with some of the stars of Women’s Football, as players of The FA WSL from Watford Ladies, Kate Natkiel and Bonnie Horwood, will be there to meet, chat and have a kickabout with the girls.

Charlotte Lade, one of the world’s leading professional football freestylers, will be demonstrating her amazing football tricks.

The festival, which will run from 9.15am until 4pm both days, is free.
