The family of much-loved AFC Sudbury volunteer and super fan Chris Olley have thanked all those who have donated to fund research and treatment into the condition which took his life.
The 52-year-old died from pneumonia in December after battling valiantly with motor neurone disease for six years. And now his sister Jenny Olley has expressed the family’s gratitude after revealing collections at AFC Sudbury raised £1,300 for the MND Association.
She said: “We want to thank them all from the bottom of our hearts because AFC Sudbury was like a second home and family to Chris; they gave him a purpose and an interest when he had little else.
“The family want to thank everybody, particularly to those at the club, who have so generously given a donation.”
Olley, who lived with his family at Bank Side, Long Melford was the face of a national MND awareness campaign in 2009.
