SEVEN goals and a mass of excitement kept a good Easter crowd entertained at a sunny Millfield.

Hadleigh fought back bravely after going three goals behind and could easily have gained a point.

Haverhill scored after 25 minutes when Dan Pilcher headed home with power following a free-kick.

Soon afterwards, Callum Harrison increased the lead with a great shot from long range.

Hadleigh were struggling and it got worse two minutes into the second half as Jack Higgs scored with a volley for Haverhill’s third goal.

Five minutes later it was Hadleigh’s turn to score as a corner from Duane Wright was headed home by Ollie Canfer.

This set the scene for a thrilling second half with excitement at both ends.

On the hour Hadleigh narrowed the gap further as another Wright corner was headed into the net by Kris Rose.

Then skipper Wright had a shot brilliantly saved to prevent an equaliser.

A rash challenge by Liam Jennings enabled Marc Abbott to convert a penalty kick for Haverhill’s fourth.

Rose headed another for Hadleigh but they were unable to draw level despite Ben Deacon just missing with a header.
