Brettsiders denied by late header from Dixon

Diss Town 1

Hadleigh United 1

The curtain came down for Hadleigh United after an eventful season with a share of the spoils at Brewers Green Lane on Saturday.

Diss had provided good opposition in the match which Hadleigh had won 2-1 at the Millfield three weeks ago and, at this return encounter, the Norfolk side again had a good share of the exchanges.

In the fourth minute, Diss goalkeeper Matthew Webster saved bravely to halt Liam Jennings in front of goal.

At the other end, Adam Burroughs fired too high to miss the best chance of the opening period.

Webster safely held a snapshot from Chris McLaughlin just before the interval while, early in the second half, Matt Downing headed a fraction wide for Hadleigh.

The visitors had a let off as Downing put an attempted clearance dangerously close to his own goal, the ball going for a corner.

Hadleigh scored after 73 minutes as Ollie Canfer centred from the right and Scott Chaplin volleyed in via a post.

Diss continued to threaten and were rewarded two minutes before the end, with Matt Dixon heading a spectacular goal.

n Last Wednesday, Hadleigh came from two goals down at Godmanchester Rovers to draw 2-2 thanks to a header from Kris Rose and a spot-kick by Matt Downing.
