A Ben Lannone winner ensured Cornard Dynamos Under-10s Blues kept up the pressure on the teams around them with a 3-2 home victory over Lawford Juniors in our match of the week.
Harvey Clare had given the hosts the lead, turning a corner in before Lawford levelled.
Alfie Heygreen did well to tip a free-kick over the bar before an early second-half goal put the visitors in front.
But Dynamos responded in perfect fashion with goals from Jack Hurrell, from Morgan Waldock’s cross, and Lannone.
Freddie McCracken was on target as Long Melford Under-13s drew 1-1 at Frinton and Walton.
Despite good efforts in the second half from Joe Foster, Melford just could not get a second and, after valiant saves from goalkeeper Finlay Sinclair, the home side forced an equaliser minutes before the final whistle.
Cornard Dynamos Reds Under-10s started strongly at home to unbeaten league leaders Stanway Rovers Reds, but were unable to take a result in a respectable 3-1 defeat.
Leon Warner slotted Dynamos into the lead, following Jack Ingram’s initial effort being parried into his path.
Rovers piled the pressure on in the second half, but despite some strong saves from Jake Palmer and good defending from Owen Dixon and a midfield performance from Joshua Ambrose, they conceded three times.
