Aveley 4 AFC Sudbury 1

AFC Sudbury went down to a 4-1 defeat at in-form Aveley last night stretching their winless run to 10 games in all competitions.

The Yellows, who lost 6-3 at home to Romford on Saturday, fell behind to Paul Burnett’s opener after just eight minutes but equalised through Leon Antonine’s header four minutes later.

Antoine had to go off with a hamstring injury after 28 minutes and the scores stayed level thanks to some heroics from Fred Howe in the AFC goal until 11 minutes from time.

Aveley substitute Petrit Elbi put the home side back ahead and then another replacement, Shane Oakley, made it 3-1 two minutes later.

Elbi hit the fourth, the 10th goal AFC have conceded in the space of three days, as the game tipped into extra-time.

AFC Sudbury lie in 17th in the Ryman One Division North table, nine points adrift of the play-off places.
