AFC’s poor run continues while Hadleigh take step closer to Wembley

AFC Sudbury’s search for a win continues after they were forced to settle for a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw at home to Chatham Town.

The winless run now stands at four games as James Baker’s goal wasn’t enough to clinch the hosts victory, leaving them 15th in the Ryman League Division One North table.

Elsewhere, Hadleigh United took another step closer to Wembley stadium final after securing progression to the FA VAse Fifth Round Proper with a 1-0 win away at AFC Emley courtesy of Marcus Josiah’s winner.

The result secured a trip to Bedfordshire on Saturday with a encounter against Ampthill Town.

And finally in the absence of manager Mick McCarthy, Ipswich Town grabbed some much needed relief with a morale boosting 4-0 rout over high-flying Middlesborough at Portman Road.

Defender Tommy Smith proved the unlikely hero as his brace either side of the break was added to by David McGoldrick and Aaron Mclean put the Tractor Boys four points clear of the relegation zone.
