Walsham-le-Willows and FC Clacton played out a 10-goal encounter at Summer Road on Saturday afternoon, while there were also wins for Bury Town, Mildenhall Town and Cornard United — but AFC Sudbury saw their 12-match unbeaten run come to an abrupt end.

Andrew Wood hit a hat-trick for Walsham and Tanner Call also got his name on the scoresheet, yet it was not enough to stop the hosts from slipping to a 6-4 defeat to their visitors from the Essex coast.

Elsewhere, Bury made it back to back Ryman League Division One North victories from their trip to Great Wakering Rovers thanks to Ollie Canfer’s ninth goal of the season just before the break.

AFC Sudbury’s 12-match unbeaten run was ended in emphatic style as Thurrock ran out 4-0 winners at The Wardale Williams Stadium, but there was more positive news for Soham Town Rangers courtesy of their 2-1 win over Brightlingsea Regent. As for Needham Market, they were due to face Staines at Bloomfields, but that encounter was postponed.

In the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, Mildenhall hit three unanswered goals against 10-man Kirkley & Pakefield and there was also a 2-1 victory for Newmarket Town over Hadleigh United.

Long Melford were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Swaffham Town, while down in the First Division there were victories for Cornard United and Haverhill Borough at the expense of Needham Market Reserves and Diss Town respectively. The game between Stowmarket Town and AFC Sudbury Reserves at Greens Meadow ended in a goalless draw.

Having been knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round, neither Norwich City nor Ipswich Town were in fourth-round action.

Tomorrow evening the Premier League Canaries will play host to Tottenham Hotspur at Carrow Road, with Ipswich taking on Reading at Portman Road (both 7:45pm).
