Five-point lead for Clare Ex Service Club

Clare Ex Service Club opened up a five-point lead in the Glemsford and District Cribbage League with an 8-7 win over the Melford Working Men’s Club B.

A convincing 11-4 win for Melford Hare took them into second spot, pushing the Glemsford Cock down to third. Pinkuah Arms leapt five places with a 10-5 win over Glemsford Club.

Both the Angel teams finished with a 8-7 result. The B team won to take four points against Melford Legion, the A team lost to the Glemsford Club Lions, who won for the first time this season.

Cavendish Bull took four points at the Melford Working Men’s Club, winning 9-6, and Stoke-by-Clare Lion dropped to fourth after losing 8-7 to Glemsford Club A.

n For the second year running, Michael Pearson (Glemsford Cock) has won the Individual Cup, the first cup competition of the season in the league.

He won all his four matches without losing a single game. In the first semi-final he knocked out Peter Twitchett (Clare Ex Service Club). In the second semi-final Colin Underwood (Melford British Legion) took Bob Crick (Glemsford Lions) to three games, but there was no stopping Pearson who finished with a straight win over Crick in the final.
