Finch rolls back the years to clinch victory

Cycling Club Sudbury’s Len Finch rolled back the years as he claimed victory in the 80-84 age group in the East Anglian VTTA 25 mile TT, near Newmarket.

The 84-year-old completed the course in one hour and 21 minutes averaging around 19 miles per hour. Also competing were Damon Day and Rob Davies with the former finishing close to his personal best.

On Sunday, the CC Breckland 25 mile TT took place in windy and wet conditions on the B25/4 course. James Rush, who is having a fantastic season came home in 55:41 to take fifth place overall while David Miller completed his first ever 25 mile TT in 1:16:29. Club chairman David Fenn rode to a latter career personal best of 1:09:11 and John Bradbury managed a very creditable 56:24.

Meanwhile, Sudbury’s own TT took place on the Acton circuit in near perfect conditions for time trialling with 24 riders trying to make most of the conditions. Davies won in a personal best time of 19:00 closely followed by Rush 19:06 with Andy Kennedy third in 19:18, while Graham Buckles improved his time by almost one minute in an impressive 22:36.
