Corrine just misses out

Members of Long Melford Karate Club entered the 2015 English Karage Organisation’s National Championships, held in Birmingham.

All the students did well, especially Corrine Ansell (3rd Dan), who fought exceptionally well in the senior ladies’ kumite (fighting) section.

Ansell (20), battled her way through some tough fights to the final. That went to three points each with 30 seconds remaining. The final point was awarded to her opponent, which meant Ansell took a well-earned second place.

Coach Jim Mead (7th Dan), a senior referee at the championships, said: “Corrine trains very hard in all aspects of karate, and takes it very seriously, which paid off this year at the nationals. I am very proud of her achievements as a student at the club.”
