Cornard Dynamos are celebrating the news they have been named Suffolk’s Charter Standard Development Club of The Year 2015.

The club are set to receive their award at Suffolk Football Association’s end-of-season presentation evening at Ipswich Town Football Club on June 4.

Vice Chairman Paul Warner said: “I would like to thank everyone involved for their support in getting this award, and moving the club forward.”

He revealed the club is looking to upgrade its status after recently applying for Community Standard, the highest level available under the FA.

n Dynamos recently hosted a transition festival for under-10s in preparation of next season, moving from seven-a-side to nine-a-side matches.

They welcomed more than 70 children throughout the day, including from Stanway Rovers, Feering Falcons and Lexden Saints.

The noncompetitive event allowed players to get their first experience of playing nine-a-side in a safe, pressure-free environment using much bigger pitches and significantly bigger goals than the traditional mini soccer seven-a-side format.

Players were also educated on different rules, including offside, no retreat rule and no back passes.

The club thanked Mark Arnold for running the event.

n Cornard Dynamos Under-12s earned promotion on the last day of the season with a 5-0 victory over Lexden Saints on Saturday.

Curtis Harvey scored two goals followed by a third before half-time by Archie Trew.

The second half started with Trew scoring a great left-footed goal from 20 yards out.

Curtis Harvey then scored his third taking his goal tally to 31 for the season in a game in which Lewis Oakes was awarded the man-of-the-match.

The previous Tuesday had seen Dynamos lose 5-2 at league leaders Feering, with goals from Trew and Ollie Kirkpatrick after the break.

Owen Amery took Dynamos’ man-of-the-match award.
