SUDBURY Cricket Club went down to a heavy defeat to rivals Bury St Edmunds in the East Anglian Premier League - losing by seven wickets.
Put in to bat first, after Bury won the toss, early wickets fell at an alarming rate, with Sudbury unable to recover in front of their home fans at Friars Street.
The defeat, after Bury easily overtook Sudbury’s total of 116 in 27.2 overs, leaves Sudbury two off the bottom of the league, having played five games.
Overseas star Hasantha Fernando, in his first game for Sudbury, a hit a disappointing five runs before being clean bowled and then took one wicket opening the bowling reply.
Meanwhile, Halstead also suffered a heavy defeat, going down by nine wickets at Cambridge Granta. The Essex side only made 72 all out batting first.
