Building project ‘won’t hit clubs’ use’

The headteacher of a Great Cornard school has reassured sports clubs that building work at the school will not impact on their use of fields.

Wayne Lloyd, headteacher at Thomas Gainsborough School, revealed plans were being made for a major rebuilding programme at the school in Head Lane in last week’s Free Press.

However, he stated the project, which is in its very early stages, will not stop Sudbury Rugby Club and Sudbury Hockey Club from using the school’s fields for their practice sessions, tournaments and matches.

“There will absolutely be no building on any part of the field that is used by the rugby club or any other club,” he said.

Mr Lloyd added that the plans were far from finished as architects were currently in discussions over the plans to rebuild parts of the school and no final design had yet been completed.
