Billy Bird made his title dream a reality after clinching the light middleweight British Masters belt.

The former Sudbury Boxing Club member overcame Leicestershire-based 31-year-old Simon Henry with a fifth round stoppage in front of a capacity crowd at Norwich’s St Andrew’s Hall.

Putting his flawless professional record on the line, 21-year-old ‘Billy Boy’ proved too quick for his opponent defensively, controlling the first four rounds before connecting with a clean left hook midway through the fifth causing the judge to call a halt to proceedings.

Bird was presented with his belt by sparring partner and Olympic gold medallist Anthony Ogogo.
