AFC Sudbury reveal promotion-winning new signings
AFC Sudbury this afternoon (Wednesday, May 19) unveiled their first signings since winning promotion to the Ryman League Premier Division.
Former Norwich City, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Grimbsy Town, and most recently, Lowestoft Town midifelder Robert Eagle, 29, is the standout name — having been part of the side who took The Trawlerboys to their highest ever level, before being relegated from the National League North this month.
Also putting pen-to-paper at The Wardale Williams Stadium today is former Concord Rangers and Brentwood Town promotion-winning midfielder Sam Bantick, who had an eight-game spell with AFC Sudbury between September and October last year.
His five goals in that period game The Yellows faithful a short but sweet flavour of what he can do.
Eagle is also known to being an attacking player and started out with Norwich City as a youngster making 10 appearances in the 2006-07 season.
He left the club without making a further appearance in April 2009, joining Scottish outfit Inverness when he played 19 times, scoring his first professional goal.
A 50-game spell with Grismby Town followed from the start of the 2010/11 season, with a three-game loan spell at Alfreton Town following before making a move to Suffolk to play for Lowestoft Town after being released from his contract in January.
