AFC Sudbury preview: Godbold targeting more away success
AFC Sudbury manager Jamie Godbold is targeting more away success for his side when they start a four-game road trip at Wroxham on Saturday (3pm), writes Alex Moss.
A Craig Parker brace helped the Yellows beat Thamesmead Town 2-0 at The Wardale Williams Stadium on Tuesday night, but Godbold’s men are not scheduled to return there for a game until December 12.
Despite being away from home comforts for the next three weeks, Godbold is hopeful they can maintain their strong position in the Ryman League Division One North table.
“It will be difficult not playing in front of our home supporters over the next few weeks,” the Sudbury boss said. “But we’ve got a good away record and all that matters for us is looking after ourselves.
“We’re pleased to be where we are (3rd). We’re in a good position and if we can be in and around there in March/April time then it’s going to be an exciting end to the season for us.”
Tuesday’s win over Thamesmead saw AFC climb up to third in the Division One North table, and also provided the perfect response after losing 3-1 at higher league Hampton and Richmond Borough in the FA Trophy on Saturday.
Luke Callander (suspended) will miss this weekend’s trip to Trafford Park with a one game suspension, but will be back in contention for Sudbury’s visit to Waltham Abbey on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
