AFC Sudbury moved to within three points of Aveley in the fifth and final play-off spot following a vital 3-1 victory over promotion rivals Soham Town Rangers on Tuesday night.

Having suffered back-to-back defeats, the Yellows bounced back in style with goals from Ollie Berquez, James Baker and Kris Newby settling a thrilling encounter in which Joey Abbs added the consolation for the visitors from the penalty spot.

The result leaves Sudbury, who are still under the interim management of Danny Laws, seventh in Ryman League Division One North with two games in hand on Aveley ahead of a trip to 14th-placed Cheshunt on Saturday (3pm).
