AFC set to unveil two new ‘marquee’ signings
AFC Sudbury are set to unveil two new ‘marquee’ signings at the Wardale Williams Stadium this afternoon, writes Alex Moss.
The Ryman League Division One North champions have been buoyed by Marcus Garnham, Sam Clarke and Jack Wilkinson all signing contracts to stay at the club.
Goalkeeper Garnham, who won the Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Year awards last season, and club captain Clarke have put pen to paper on contracts to stay at AFC.
Garnham has agreed a deal until the end of the 2016-17 season, while Clarke has put his signature to a two-year deal.
Midfielder Wilkinson rejoined AFC in November and has committed to another season.
A partnership with Ipswich Town’s academy was also announced on Tuesday, with the double signing today set to cap off a great week for AFC.
The deal will see players in Ipswich’s Academy Elite set-up join part of Sudbury’s youth section and play as a team in the Eastern Junior Alliance.
AFC director Keith Morris said: “I am delighted with this partnership with Ipswich Town FC. It will complement and support the wonderful work currently being undertaken by our academy and youth section.”
AFC Sudbury have been placed in the Ryman League Premier Division for 2016-17. The Yellows are one of four Suffolk sides in the division, with Lowestoft Town, Leiston and Needham Market all included for next season.
