ITS been cricket crazy in Sudbury this week as the town’s oldest sports club celebrates the sound of leather on willow with a feast of matches.

Sudbury Cricket Club’s cricket week, featuring a marquee at Friars Street, got under way at the weekend with the club enjoying four league wins and just one defeat.

A presidents’ XI took on Old Grammarians on Monday (pictured) while Kingsclere Re United from Basingstoke made the trip to Friars Street for Tuesday’s game for the first time and the esteemed a Marylebone Cricket Club XI, who play at Lord’s, were the opposition yesterday.

The Striders play Sudbury today (11.30am) while The Toads are the visitors at the same time tomorrow. The week, sponsored by Robins Row insurance, culminates with a Bollywood night on Saturday at the marquee (8pm) following the first team’s home match with Burwell.
