Seeing what wonderful planting has been going on outside the town hall, around St Peter’s and in the old Bruntons tubs on King Street, I’m amazed at how awful Old Market Place looks.
Surely the town council has contractors who take responsibility for such a prime area in town? So what’s going on?
It is great to see councillors Peter Gray and John Sayers (yet again) taking an initiative to get local people to help prettify the town. I would willingly volunteer to help clean up Old Market Place, weed and plant out the flower troughs – the trees are also in desperate need of pruning before they start coming into leaf.
In fact, I’m just waiting to hear from the town hall that, with a bit of professional advice, I can go ahead. Watch this space.
