What in the name of blazes has happened to today’s society?
Two letters in the Free Press by two contributors and JBS Butchers has felt it necessary to remove its window display.
Good God! It is a butcher’s window. A butcher’s purveys meat. Meat comes from animals. This is, or was, a farming county and, as such, animals are reared for slaughter and become carcasses. Get real people – join the real world.
If the author of one of the letters can no longer take their children to Marimba, let her use the other entry and exit points – it is not necessary to look in the “offensive” window at all.
Referring to the other letter, I can only say that I am amazed that so many fellow traders have also been offended.
Have things really changed so quickly or has someone been stirring?
My wife and I shop in JBS and will continue to do so. It is good to have an old-type, family butcher whose products are first class.
Do letter writers bypass Market Hill where Mr Coleman regularly hangs game, pigeon and rabbits and has done for the 40 years we have lived in Great Cornard?
To my knowledge, he has not received any “poison pen” letters causing him to remove the offending carcasses. One could be forgiven for thinking there was a vendetta against the business.
I would point out that schools are trying to persuade pupils that not all food comes multi-packed from the all-powerful supermarkets.
Perhaps these letter writers should sit down with their children and tell them just where our food comes from.
