Following your article in last week’s Free Press featuring councillor Jan Osborne’s comments on the People’s Park campaign, may I clarify that, with the support of its founder Jill Fisher, the People’s Park Preservation Association (PPPA) is continuing to co-ordinate the campaign to save People’s Park (Harp Close Meadow) and restore it to something of its former glory as a wildlife meadow for the enjoyment of local residents.
We welcome help from individuals and organisations who would like to work with us.
As Mrs Osborne, who lives in Harp Close Meadow herself suggests, PPPA is meanwhile striving to lessen the impact of the current planning application to build 100 houses; we wish to see a wildlife meadow incorporated within the proposed development.
Readers with views on the matter are encouraged to make these known to Babergh District Council in advance of a meeting on December 19 which will consider the application.
PPPA will shortly be launching an appeal for donations and pledges of funds to enable us to raise the significant amount likely to be needed.
