End of an era at middle school

“What big eyes you have.”

Familiar words echoed at Uplands Middle School last week in their performance of Roald Dahl’s Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf.

Sadly for all of us Uplands staff and students, after hours of rehearsals this was the very last play and an end of an era for many families, mine especially after three generations having been taught there.

A first-class production by Mr A Hodgson, the producer, along with Miss S Sheye, music director, plus many others too numerous to mention, but made even more memorable for our family that Malcolm Crowe made and constructed the scenery.

Malcolm, your years of excellent teaching will long be remembered with families in and around Sudbury.

Our window still displays one of your fine wood-working examples in the shape of a dog made by Beverley at Uplands some 30 years ago.

May all you talented students who took part in the play long remember the wonderful stage experience and the pleasure you gave to us who came to watch with your fantastic acting and singing.
