TODDLERS at a Little Cornard nursery will be getting their book fix as they bid to raise money for a £20,000 community appeal.
Youngsters aged between two and five at Yorley Barn Nursery in Upper Road will be encouraged to read as many books as they can during a sponsored “read-a-book week” starting on Monday.
The Quay Theatre, Eden’s Youth Project, AFC Grassroots, Go START and Helping Hands are all set to benefit from the project.
“As well as supporting the appeal, the week will also be very educational for our children, encouraging them to take an interest in books and reading,” said nursery owner Donna Row.
Staff will monitor the number of books read by children at the nursery, with parents asked to do the same at home.
A target of £20,000 has been set for the appeal, with this figure being shared between the groups in May.
