Work is continuing to create a linking path between Sudbury and Great Cornard.

Babergh District Council has said negotiations are continuing in a bid to create path link between the Dove Meadow estate in Great Cornard and the path network that runs between the village and Sudbury, providing a continuous link between Great Cornard lock and the meadows and common lands along the River Stour in Sudbury.

Frank Lawrenson, Babergh’s portfolio holder for environment, said: “Babergh has been working very hard in its negotiations with all interested parties to secure the necessary arrangements to complete this section of footpath, which will provide an alternative, shortened, pedestrian link from homes at Dove Meadow to a wider footpath network in Great Cornard and Sudbury.

“Unfortunately, it is a long and complicated process but residents can be assured that we are very keen to bring it to a successful conclusion.”
