Woman seriously hurt after crash with ambulance

A WOMAN is fighting for her life after her car collided with an ambulance in Sudbury.

Emergency services were called to Melford Road at around 6.10pm yesterday after an ambulance crashed into a silver Jaguar.

The woman driver, 69, was freed from her car by firefighters and taken to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge by air ambulance.

A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said the woman had suffered serious head injuries, which were thought to be “life-threatening”.

She also confirmed the ambulance involved in the crash had been responding to an emergency incident and had its blue lights flashing and siren on.
