A woman in her 20s has reported being raped in Hadleigh.

Police officers were contacted around 11.35pm last night, Thursday, June 23, by a member of the public who reported that a woman had knocked at the door of his home saying she had been attacked.

Police attended and spoke to the woman who reported she had been walking in Angel Street, close to the Magdalen Road junction, when she had been knocked to the ground by a man who had then raped her.

She told police the man involved was white, around 5ft 2ins tall, aged in his 20s, with dark hair and was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

Enquiries are underway to determine exactly what happened but police are asking anyone who may have been in the area between 10.30pm and midnight last night to come forward and are asking anyone who may have information to call Suffolk Police on 101, quoting crime number 40315/16.

The latest attack will once again raise concerns over safety in the town after two attacks were reported to police in March last year.
