Woman charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with shooting in Bury
Detectives investigating a shooting in Bury St Edmunds have charged a 29-year-old woman with conspiracy to commit murder.
Police were called at 6.45pm on August 4 to reports that a man had been shot in the stomach at Forum Court apartments, on Station Hill.
The victim, aged in his 30s, was successfully treated in hospital for his injuries.
Officers yesterday (Tuesday, December 29) re-arrested Rebecca Deferia, of Carnation Way, Red Lodge, in connection with the incident and she was brought into custody where she was re-interviewed before being charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
She was detained in custody overnight pending an appearance before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court this morning.
She was then remanded in custody to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on January 12.
Officers made a number of arrests following the incident and five men have also previously been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Simon Webber, aged 31, of Sydenham Close, Bridgwater, Somerset; Frank Warren, aged 51, of Victoria Road, Dorchester; Andrew Seaton, aged 40, of Frome View, Maiden Newton, Dorchester; Paul Baker, aged 35, of Neils View, Maiden Newton, Dorchester, and 59-year-old Colin Deferia, of Battisford Road, Barking, Suffolk, have all entered not guilty pleas and they remain in custody pending a trial listed to begin at Ipswich Crown Court on Monday, April 11 2016.
A second woman, who is now 60 years old, who was originally arrested on August 5, remains on police bail until 21 January 2016.
