Woman assaulted by man in Great Cornard


Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Great Cornard.

The incident occurred between 7.20pm and 7.35pm yesterday evening, Wednesday, March 8, in Poplar Road.

The victim – aged in her forties – was walking along Poplar Road when a man she had seen standing on the corner of Cherry Tree Road began walking behind her.

The man overtook her and then as she reached the junction with Hawthorn Road, he attempted to grab hold of her and pull her to the ground, but she managed to break free and run away. The victim was left shaken as a result of this incident, but was otherwise unharmed.

The suspect is described is white, aged in his mid-fifties, with an unkempt beard and deep-set eyes. He was wearing dark clothing and a beanie hat.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who saw a man matching this description in the vicinity of this incident yesterday evening.
