What is it like to be blind in Sudbury?
To mark World Glaucoma Awareness Week volunteers in Sudbury were blindfolded on Saturday, before having to try to negotiate the many obstacles that blind and visually impaired people face every day.
Pupils from Thomas Gainsborough School were among those that joined the local branch of sight charity Lions International and Will Norman from Sudbury opticians Wardale Williams, who are organised the event.
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of preventable blindness and affects more than 600,000 people in the UK.
Mr Norman said: “Early diagnosis of glaucoma is important as there is treatment available to slow the progression of the disease.”
