WEYBREAD INVESTIGATION: Double murder suspect appeals extradition to the UK
Weybread double murder suspect Ali Qazimaj has appealed his extradition to the UK from Luxembourg.
Qazimaj, 42, who was arrested in June on suspicion of the murder of Sylvia and Peter Stuart, was told by a district court in Luxembourg on Tuesday they had ruled in favour of extraditing him back to the UK.
But the Diss Express understands he has appealed that decision this morning.
That means the forklift truck driver and his lawyer have a 20-day period to put their case forward. It will be heard by the Court of Appeals.
The body of Mr Stuart, 75, was found in woodland near their Mill Lane home on Friday, June 3.
Authorities are still attempting to locate Mrs Stuart, 69, who was last seen in Pulham Market on Sunday, May 29.
Suffolk Police say they do not expect to find her alive.
Qazimaj was arrested in Luxembourg City on June 16.
He was found by a member of the public, a hostel worker employed in the city, and reported who she believed to be Qazimaj to the local authorities. She had recognised him after seeing images of him on the internet.
