Weekend football round-up and mid-week preview

Mildenhall Town go into tonight’s Thurlow Nunn League League Challenge Cup tie at home to King’s Lynn Town Reserves (7.45pm) looking to progress to the quarter-finals in what is the club’s last chance of silverware this season.

The latest news from the club is that the pitch should be ok for tonight’s (Tuesday) match at Recereation Way, with the tie having already been moved to Suffolk after two attempts to play it at King’s Lynn’s The Walks Stadium were postponed.

Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division rivals Long Melford await the winners in the next round, having already progressed through to the last eight.

Dean Greygooses’ Hall side go into the fixture off the back of ending a four-game winless streak with a 4-0 victory away at FC Clacton with a Dan Brown hat-trick and the other coming from Matt Green.

Elswhere, AFC Sudbury are not in action tonight as originally planned, with their league fixture with Tilbury has been put back to Tuesday, February 2, meaning their next Ryman League Division One North game is at Maldon and Tiptree on Saturday (3pm).

AFC went top of the league after beating local rivals Bury Town 2-0 on Saturday with a goal in each half, one from top scorer Luke Callander followed by a Liam Wales effort that was from James Baker’s original effort.
