We’ve ended up with little
In a recent edition of the Free Press, there was a letter stating that the new health centre had taken 20 years to be built.
When I started working at Walnuttree Hospital, the then matron told me at my interview that a new hospital was to be built, that the plans had been passed and it was ready to be started.
Later, I was told that it had been 10 years since the plans had been approved, which makes it 55 years, not the 20 quoted. It was also going to be a hospital with inpatient beds.
We now have exactly what we had before – no A&E department, no nothing.
