A SPONSORED walk in aid of wounded servicemen and women raised £1,500 at the weekend.
The walk and activity day, held at the 3rd Sudbury Scouts Hut in Quay Lane, Sudbury, raised the money for Help for Heroes.
Diane Palmer, who organised the event, said: “It was fantastic – we had about 70 people turn up throughout the day which was brilliant.”
Money was raised in a variety of ways. About £45 was collected through donations during the walk itself, while boat rides, raffles, stalls and competitions all boosted the total, a small part of which will also help buy sports equipment for the Beavers group.
“We had a real mix of people who had a personal reason for wanting to help the charity,” said Mrs Palmer. “And the help from everybody was wonderful.
“Considering it started as a walk for just me and my son Jake, to have that much support and raise that much money was amazing.”
