Headway Suffolk, which supports adults with acquired brain injuries, is calling on walkers to help it beat the £3,000 it raised with a sponsored walk last year.

This year’s 3.5-mile walk is on September 3, starting at 11am at Headway in Olding Road, Bury St Edmunds, and goes around the historic heart of Bury St Edmunds, returning to Olding Road.

Headway is asking clients, families, supporters and corporate teams to take part in the walk and says the route is accessible and open to all ages and abilities, with dogs welcome.

There is no registration fee but walkers should register to take part by filling the form at www.headwaysuffolk.org.uk/events or by calling 01284 702535.

All walkers are encouraged to get sponsorship either online through the charity’s Virgin Money Giving page or by using the form at www.headwaysuffolk.org.uk/events.

Last year’s inaugural walk saw 60 people take a six mile route through the Fornham villages and raise almost £3,000.

The brain injury charity’s communications and marketing officer David Crane said: “Last year was fantastic when our expectations were exceeded with the numbers taking part and the excellent

“We had a good number of clients and their families take part, which was great to see, and with their feedback in mind, we looked at reducing the mileage to make it more accessible for all.

“The route is also more flat and the surface better for those with mobility impairment.”

Headway Suffolk supports 250 adults a week who have an acquired brain injury or neurological condition to rebuild their lives.
