Volunteers wanted for spring clean to help revitalise St Peter's in Sudbury
Helpers of all ages in Sudbury are being encouraged to do their bit to give St Peter’s a spruce up.
The St Peter’s Spring Clean is set to take place on Saturday, February 15, between 10am and 1pm, and organisers are hoping that people will want to lend a hand cleaning and tidying inside and outside of the building.
Tasks will include dusting and sweeping the windows and alcoves, clearing out behind the scenes and tidying up the green spaces around the Grade I-listed building on Market Hill.
As well as an opportunity to show support for St Peter’s, it is hoped the event will be a social occasion, offering the chance for helpers to meet and chat with new people.
Peter Gray, chairman of the Friends of St Peter’s, said: “Many hands make light work and, hopefully, if we can get enough people together for a morning, we can get St Peter’s ready for a busy schedule of events and concerts in 2020.
“Normally, it’s the same handful of people who clean the church, but we know how much St Peter’s means to people, so we thought we’d open it up to more volunteers this year and make a fun and social morning of it.”
All cleaning products will be provided, and free tea and biscuits will be served throughout the morning.
Anyone who would like to lend a hand can simply pop along on the day, even if only for half an hour.
