THE Sudbury branch of Vodafone is to close at the end of the month.
The mobile phone store in North Street is to be axed as the company “explores” ways to improve its business.
Five workers at the shop will be affected by the closure, although it is unclear whether they will be looking for new jobs or take up alternative position with the retailer.
Jane Frapwell, a spokeswoman for Vodafone, said: “We’ve recently carried out a review of our business exploring ways to improve the customer experience in our retail stores and many are currently undergoing refurbishment.
“We are also introducing Tech Teams to some stores to provide expert advice to customers. As part of this review, we have decided to close 21 stores at the end of May.”
She added that a 30 day consultation, which began on May 1, was taking place with affected employees to discuss their futures.
“During this period we will be looking at the possibility of relocating employees to other retail stores or other parts of the business where possible,” Mrs Frapwell said.
