AN application to serve alcohol at a village hall has been granted, despite concerns of residents.
Leavenheath Village Hall will now be able to serve alcohol at the venue every day of the week.
The hall’s committee had sought to stop serving at 11.30pm on each day, but members of Babergh District Council’s licensing sub-committee granted the application subject to the supply stopping half an hour earlier – at 11pm – on a Sunday and between Monday and Thursday.
Villagers had objected to the plans fearing that previous problems with loud music coming from the hall would worsen.
In a letter to the council, one resident said she felt the changes were “entirely unnecessary”.
