There will be long delays for commuters using the M11 to go to London today, Monday, after a fatal crash.

Police remain at the scene of the collision which happened on the M25, northbound slip road to the M11.

A lorry overturned shortly before 11.45pm last night (Sunday, January 10). It was in collision with a pillar on a road bridge. The driver sadly died at the scene.

Both sliproads from the M25 to the M11 remain closed while forensic investigations and recovery of the vehicle and its load take place.

The scene has now been handed over to the Highways Agency and road closures are likely to remain in place until the early evening today, Monday, January 11, for urgent repairs to be made.

Motorists are thanked for their patience.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision, in particular the occupants of a vehicle that was travelling behind the lorry. The male driver stopped at the scene but left prior to emergency services arriving.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 or email collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk
