Fire crews have dealt with a combine harvester fire on the outskirts of Clare.

The fire broke out at Mill Farm in Ashen Road. Crews were called to the scene at 10.46am today (August 10).

Despite fire fighters efforts, the fire spread to the standing crops in nearby fields.

The blaze was tackled by 11 vehicles, including a water pump. The incident was under control by 12.31pm and crews stayed on the scene to check for hot spots.

A council spokesman said there were no reported fatalities or injuries, which was a relief given the scale of the incident.
