Two people arrested following road traffic collision involving car stolen from address in Hadleigh
Two people have been arrested, after a road traffic collision this week was traced back to the theft of two vehicles in Hadleigh a day earlier.
Police officers were called out to B1083 in Sutton just after 4.10am on Wednesday, in response to reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a Fiat 500.
Following enquiries, officers determined that the Fiat, along with another vehicle – a Mini Cooper – had been stolen from an address in New Cut, Hadleigh on Tuesday, after the keys for both vehicles was taken via an insecure window at the address at some point overnight.
The Fiat was later recovered by police following the collision, while the Mini Cooper was located at another address in Needham Market.
Subsequently, two people were detained in connection with the incidents, before being transported to the Suffolk Police Investigation Centre in Martlesham for questioning.
A 22-year-old man was arrested, on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, burglary, failing to provide a breath test and driving while disqualified.
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old woman was also arrested, on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and burglary.
Both were taken into custody, pending further enquiries, but no formal charges have been made at this time.
