Two more men arrested as investigation continues into robbery of woman in Cavendish
Two more men have been arrested, as the investigation into the robbery of an elderly woman in Cavendish earlier this year continues.
A 43-year-old man from Basildon, Essex and a 45-year-old man from Wanstead, London were arrested on June 8 and June 13, respectively, in connection with an overnight robbery at a property in Nether Road on April 16.
Three men entered the home shortly after midnight, before one of them awoke the owner – a woman in her 70s – in her bedroom, by holding his hands firmly over her mouth and demanding property.
The other two men carried out an untidy search of the home, stealing an amount of cash and jewellery.
After a short time, the victim was able to scream for help, which alerted a neighbour, who then came to assist and raise the alarm, causing all three men to flee the scene.
A 42-year-old man has already been charged in relation to the incident, after officers from the Metropolitan Police were directed by Suffolk detectives to attend an address in Ilford, Essex.
After being questioned at Bury St Edmunds Investigation Centre, Sammy Okat-Uma, of New North Road, Ilford, was charged with robbery and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear before Ipswich Crown Court on July 13.
The other two men arrested this month were also questioned and have now been bailed, to return to Suffolk Police on July 3 and July 8, respectively.
