Two men charged with theft of £30,000 worth of lead from roof of All Saints' Church in Hartest

Two people have been charged with the theft of £30,000 worth of lead from a church roof in Suffolk late last year.

All Saints’ Church in Lawshall Road, Hartest was targeted at some point between Monday, October 14 and Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

The theft of lead was only discovered when rain was seen coming through the roof into the building.

Subsequently, Suffolk Police made enquiries into the incident, leading to the arrest of two men.

Constantin Motescu, 32, of Sutton Hill in Telford, and 38-year-old Sucea Lanourentiu, who is of no fixed address, have now been charged with theft.

They were remanded in custody and are due to appear before Lincoln Magistrates' Court today.
